Can you help me identify this cap?

    Hi,

I borrowed this cap from a friend of mine.I was interested in trying to find out who might have used it and during what time frame. It resembles a bustina which was used by several countries. The markings seem to be spanish. I have an Italian sahariana that has a similar marking and was made in Sevilla. I researched the spanish civil war and found a few pictures of hats using the same red tassle and piping.None were cut like a bustina.Any way I appreciate any help you can give me. Pic 1.WR jim

                .......

                Hello Jim,
I think you are right it is a Spanish Civil War "bustina" for the mixed brigade (Italian-Spanish) "18 Luglio" (18th July) low ranks.
The design of the bustina it is different but I think could be the right answer, I hope it can helps.
Here a table from an Italian book about the volounteers in Spain.
                regards,
                Max

                  Max,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I don't have any references on the SCW. I tried searching the net but the uniform data is pretty basic. Even though I couldn't find a bustina showing the same design of tassle and piping, there were plenty of standard OS caps with that design. I don't know if this design was used prior to and after the SCW. .WR Jim

                    Hello
this is not a SCW item, but a cap of the spanish infantry from the 40s to the 50s, enough common.
