IMO a good Romanian piece. Color is right for this type of helmet.

I've studied the Romanian helmets as best I can. Any reason uncovered as why some have the original liners and why some have the German style liner?

I have a Romanian helmet with the King Carol II crest as well, but mine has the other liner.

Peter is it possible to put a pic of the liner,

are you refering to the m31 liner system, and did they made any modifications to install that liner?

                      Marc--
It is like the liner you showed. No, that helmet did not use any modifications.

But I also have this helmet. There is some argument whether these were used by the Germans late in the war or the Romanians. I have spoken to one source in Romania who said he has found several examples of gray Romanian helmets:

Liner. This is a TRUE German M31 liner and it is mounted in the helmet with German split rivets.

                            probably the Romanians,

Dont know of any evidence of germans (combat) earing other helemts then the standard german ones

And seems like a lot of effort to convert Dutch helmets for German use.

My feeling is that these were a possible "next" model for the Romanians using the M31 liner. From when I don't know.
