    Unknown Shoulder Belt Plates? Help

    I recently picked this up from from a Massachusetts family. They've been in every war since the revolutionary war down to WWII. From the Mexican American War to the Spanam all of them had one thing in common they liked bringbacks so trying to figure out what this is confusing.The look sort of European to me.

    I am unclear exactly this is. The look like shoulder belt plates. One has a roman eagle with fasces and one has a lion with a shield. Anyone have any insight?

    The left one, as viewed by me, appears to be Italian. The one on the right could be any of the countries that use this type of lion in their military heraldry. Possibly Czecoslovakia?

      The left one is a belt buckle, and I would guess for a female, so possibly not even military related.

        These are not military but, as has been suggested, either fashion items - the pin back on one suggests this - or furniture fittings. Far too delicate to survive on any soldier's uniform.

          They look to me to be made by the same jeweler and share decorative themes to both, so I believe they belonged together or came from the same place. If the one on the left is Italian, you might look to province, city or family crests in Italy to see if you can find what it is. The pins and loops lead me to believe they are for attachment to clothing or a hat or other such item.
