    French or Belgian ribbon?

On this US ribbon bar, does anyone know what the middle ribbon is? I'm certain that it's not the USMC Expeditionary medal, as that ribbon doesn't have the gold stripes touch the outer borders as this one does. The USMC ribbon should have a thin red stripe on the outer edges. I've seen another WW I bar which has this exact ribbon, which looks just like a faded USMC Exped.
