Hi Charlie,
Yes it was ebay where I saw the medal:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...532221238&rd=1
I would have a hard time believing that story myself

Guys,
I've attached a paragraph from the Laslo WW1 Victory medal referance. Basically niether Czechoslovakia or Poland participated in WW1 as independant nations but both had troops participating. After WW1 both new governments were offered the opportunity to share in the creation of the Victory medal. It appears the new government of Poland did not participate. The very best this so called Polish Victory medal could be is a veterns non official, self awarded medal only of interest to a serious WW1 Victory medal collector as sort of a side bar piece. At worst a complete piece of do-do.

They came out about 12 + years ago on the market from a dealer in Canada. The story is that they were found in the Czech republic. Whether they are real or fake who knows but what is certain is that they are not official and that they were never issued. The dealer had hundreds of them and I think there are 3 versions, he has a article on the net somewhere describing all the versions.

That's what the description says (more or less) in the ebay sale:
Rare Polish WWI Victory Medal 'Small Eagle' Variety. The obverse is maker marked by 'VLAITOV' on rim edge at 7 o'clock , and 'MK' for Mint Kremica. The reverse has the Polish Eagle, see my other auctions for the 'RP' variety. This medal was evidently proposed after WWI and 3 varieties were produced in limited numbers in at the Czech Mint but never issued or mass produced and these pieces remained in storage until being discovered about 15 years ago. Insured Shipping/Post in the US $4.95, outside the US via Air Mail $3.95, (Registered Post is an option for an additional 9.95). I NOW CAN TAKE PAYMENT WITH PAY PAL. <!-- End Description -->

I have seen them in person and they don't look that bad. The patina varies on them. The question is who ordered them and why? Why would anyone keep a stash of hundreds of medals for many decades? Why weren't they claimed? Why make 3 varieties ?Who ordered them?
I would buy one if it was no more then $30 but they are way too expensive.
