      With the large "D22", the SF crest is VN era. The CIB is WW2 era.

        Fine point for the poster.
        These items were purchased, not issued.
        Rarely some school or organization might have some laying about, but in general all insignia badges, etc. were purchased by the individual.
        There were myriads of shops and booths on and around military installations where you got things sewn on.
        I was at a military store at Ft Campbell last year-now you can buy a beret "pre shaped and shaved."
        We just put the dumb things on and wore them in.
