    Please help

    Dear Fellow Forum Members,

May I please have your valued advise on these badges. Are they original and what period are they from? Thank you very much for your most valued assistance.

    Regards,
    Dave.

You have a nice pair of French paratrooper insignia. You can date a Drago made French paratrooper wing by the address which here is 43 rue Olivier Metra indicating a manufacturing period of about 1947 through 1952. Now the serial number on the back is the issue number or brevet number to a specific individual which can also be dated. Number 106408 on the back was issued circa 1955. So this paratrooper found an older paratrooper wing to have his brevet number stamped on the back. The Drago made beret badge has the newer address of 3-5. rue de Romainville manufactured about 1952 through 1960. What I don't think you can determine is if this pair was worn by a member of the French Foreign Legion. They did wear this combination but so did other French paratroop units.
