French Lizard Jacket and some Field gear

I found this Lizard jacket, it's heavily used and repaired, I would like to know a period for the jacket.
I also bought some field gear with it, on the back are 2 canteens and a leather cleaning kit pouch, I already had the backpack

I also bought these French jungle boots, when were these used?
I also found the Ground troops variable body armor plates, nice little thing

    Cheers,
    Michel

It looks like the later pattern 47/56 - very nice!

The jacket is late Algerian war period onwards, say 1958 and later. The jungle boots are modern issue variations of Indochina/Algerian war patterns. The addition of the buckled gaiter came in the 1960's-70's. The musette pack in the picture with the lizard smock is an all-arms TTA infantry issue Mle 50. The belt is a Mle 50/53 RAPCO, issued from around october 1953 onwards. Worn very late in the Indochina war through to the 1980's when it was replaced by the FAMAS/F1 series. The bush hat is a TTA Mle 49. Issued from 1950 onwards and used right up to the 1980's. What do the canteens look like? Do they have a cover with a wire hanger? and does the canteen close with a large brown plastic/bakalite screw cap?

I've got a similar lizard jacket... Don't know what it is though. It's got a velcro strip on one of the pocket flaps so I guess it can't be that old.

That seems to be the same model as mine, the velcro could have been added later

Right on. Only the short, original model (still made as Palladium's Low Pampa) was used in Indochina and Algeria. I just got a pair of the Pampas to augment my Algerian War collection and use for hiking, and they rock.

Jose, your jacket, as Michel said, is the Mle. 47/56 with the velcro added later (post Algerian War [1962]), probably late '60's. The jacket was produced by a variety of makers, and an array of shades in the material can be seen. My original set of pants and jacket have very prominent red coloration, whereas my repro set (excellent repros) are very dark and the green is in the majority. Also, neither of my sets have the little hanging loop on the inside of the collar. From what I've seen the green buttons appeared on later production jackets. Mine both have brown buttons, just as my Mle. 47 uniforms do.

            Nice pieces of kit, guys.
