Help me to ID this patch and DI

I recently acquired the attached patch and DI. The DI I have not seen before, but the patch is something of interest. From what I have discovered it was used in the Delta. The DI may just be a cinderalla piece. It is pinback.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I received the items with the following information which may help to identify this patch.

Doe's anyone know of any rigger or riger unit that was stationed in the Delta?

    DENNIS,
Maybe you can shed some better light on what these may be affiliated with. I used to be a firefighter, I retired in 1996. In the early 80's I was given the insignia below by the maintenance man of an apartment building which my fire company was doing an safety inspection of. We came to be casual friends as it took several visits to set right the safety issues and he learned I had been in the Army and collected patches. I guess it didn't dawn on him that I collected aviation patches as he gave me these saying that it would be nice for them to be displayed in a collection. I didn't want to hurt his feelings for his generosity and I accepted them along with some minor details about them.

I've forgotten most of what he said but in general he was a parachute rigger in the 5th Special Forces. He had a specific area he worked with specific units but I've long forgotten what he said. He was in the South, Military Region IV, and did a lot of work out of Can Tho and Soc Trang. Specifically he rigged aerial delivery parcels of varying types that got delivered by small aircraft, L-19's, in the Delta area. He had this patch which reflected that they ( the guys he worked with) were the American Airlines of the Delta. It looks an awful lot like the old post WWII insignia for a parachutist.

I can not remember if he mentioned what unit he worked with but I'm pretty sure the 221st Avn Co was in that area. He gave me the small sand cast wings with the skull which I've only vaguely been able to match to some that show up as associated with SOG units. I don't keep track of these sorts of things but I don't want to just dispose of them because I have little knowledge of them.

Any ideas what they may be attributed to?

    Regards.
    C
