I do not think the camera patch has anything to do with Moonbeam. I think it only shares the same background colors.
My guess is that it is part of the USAF "Big Eye" program / unit. Again, this is a guess, but it would make way more sense then a Moonbeam. As I don't see any reason why a Moonbeam, Hillsboro, Cricket, and for the life of me right now can't remember the other, would have a motion picture uint attached to it.
Plus, it could be something totally unrelated to both and a stand alone unit. My best advice is to post this on usafpatches.com and see if anyone there has a positive id.
I know all collectors, me included, want every patch they keep to be to an uber cool elite unit, but it is not always the case.
Bob, that is the problem with me making a WAG. When I looked at the patch last evening I did see another difference. One of the background colors is a deep purple. I believe Moonbeam base colors were yellow and black. I will post on the usaf forum and see what pops up. Thanks for the information.

      O;kim

This will be considered a history lesson.

      Paddy is a paddy .
An Irish man is a paddy to a British Squaddie who in turn is a member of a squad of troops rambling along a street in Belfast keeping his head down and trying to make it home to a Sharon in Essex.

A paddy in Vietnam is where food is grown.

Humor is something to behold when dealing with patches because you hear and see some funny things on he old path.

Hold it and pat it and mark it with a K

Owen, if one is not from England or Ireland it is sure more difficult to understand the term analogy and use of the language. For sure, the nursery rhyme is easier to understand, even for a 3 year old. Happy hunting!!!!!

Since I have quit trying to comprehend Dennis' and Owen's conversations, I am going to post this to halfway get back on topic, haha. This is Thailand made, and came with a Prairie Fire grouping....But can anyone give me any light on what type of uniform it would have been used on? It just does not seem like a USAF party suit piece to me, but I am probably wrong.

That looks like an old fashioned spanking ruler with a just so no message circa 1984.
When it was issued to Air Crews is another matter.
                Denis ???
                any thoughts??

Hunter how are the soy beans growing? When is the harvest date? Once you eat one, it will be like hunting for patches, you can't stop eating.

Beautiful novelty patch. Owen looking at the saying on the ruler it was a program started by I believe Mrs. Reagan. I been doing research on patches for 12 hours straight, so forgive I am not going to Google it. The ruler would be too light to do any damage. They just don't make them like they did 60 years ago.

What is the subject a ant eater? Don't know the significance, but those AF guys must love their animals. Used on a party suit, why not! Just a guess.

As I looked at the patch again another thought has occured. It could be for a Army unit. With the jungle hat and AR-15 it would be a fit. Plus there is a infantry unit that I recall was named ant eaters. That is why they needed the beer, to wash the ants down their gullet for dinner.

                  OK Hunter, your turn.

For those of you wondering what I am talking about re. soy beans, Hunter will be eating some as soon as their is a harvest. I have told him how wonderful they are for pupus, and Owen .....it goes great with beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
