    F S B Searle ?

Looking for ANY info on Fire Support Base Searle that was near Niu Dat.
I have an AK that was captured there in August 1969 when NVA soldiers attempted to turn around claymores protecting the base and were seen, the mine triggered and a mine pellet marked AK recovered from the owner that had no further use for it by a US soldier who then traded off to a Kiwi from 161 Battery RNZA who was posted there with some Australians to assist the US troops at the time.
Any info, pics, if you are prepared to share photos of captured AKs that I could print off/copy would be a great help to or maps showing the location would be of great assistance as Im trying to preserve the history if the AK and display it giving it and the events surrounding its capture the credit it deserves.

    Thank you

    Righto..........

FSB Serle was east of the Horseshoe and north east of Nui Dat.

161 where there 15-31 Aug 1969, so like most small FSB's,
it wasnt used much before they moved on.

It was used during Operation Nepabunna with 9 RAR.
They were in the area near the Long Green to protect land clearing teams
