Unknown VC/NVA chest rig?

Hello, I got this style of chest rig set from a good friend who sent me a box full of NVA and VC equipment. Now, here is one that I could not put my finger one. Unlucky for me, my camera is not working too well. So I found a photo of a set that looks close to it. The only different is that mine has bakelite black buckle in back of it and not a metal one. Would anyone know what it is?

it looks post VN war to me? possibly pieced together with another countries web gear?

It is sometimes sold on ebay as 1970s Chinese web gear, used late in the war by NVA troops. But I have never seen any picture confirming it.

Did anyone figure out what these pouches are for?

I just picked up two this weekend; one sterile the second one is Chinese marked and dated 1971.

The pouches fit M-16 20 round mags perfectly. I wonder who was using a large number of M-16s and were Chicom allies in 1971.

ALL of the fasteners are PLASTIC on the pouches, the buckles and slider are metal.
