Just found this while working that other ARVN helmet thread.
DiGilio, I miss that helmet. What a bummer I had to sell it but I am glad you got it AND didnt replace the chin straps. I've got multiple images of them being cut or not worn at all. It may have been a preference not a condition issue.

Very possible you had one there. I took the liberty of correcting the image in PS because the flash tends to brighten colors and that red-brown is exactly what I'm used to seeing on good ones. Many of the patterns were far out like this one was and they were either hand painted or like that one spray painted. Remember Advisors wore the same unit helmets as their counterparts so seeing a name on the back like Josh wouldn't discredit it. Three tones too which is also common.
I tend to agree with the others that you should have left it as it was. That was a beauty and they are hard to find in that level of condition.
