    Tom,

that shirt is just wonderful, one of the most attractive designs i have seen you post in the thread.

Any details on the service of the wearer?

    Superb.

Funny, I've never thought to search it out! I'll have to now. Thanx.

        CAT Party Shirt

Here's a CAT party shirt that I missed both on eBay and the vintage clothing store that had it (10 minutes from me)!

As a small contribution to this thread...

I was paging through Vietnam era photos on eBay and found several listings for "Vietnam Women". These were negatives that were described as being in original AAFES Photo Service wrappers. The lots were very odd as the negative strips seemed to be completely random rather than sequential. The first photo would be a secretary, and the next a laundry worker. And then you would have a photo of the same person on a completely different strip.

I was about to walk away from these completely until I took a close look at the attached. It appears to be either a hostess or boarding clerk. Notice the "Air America" on the chocks on the ground, and of course the aircraft in the background.

Based on the other photos in the batch, I believe this to be a terminal in Vietnam.

As far as I could tell, she is not wearing any insignia. However, the white blouse and grey skirt seem to be consistent with the airline dress code.

And one last... these prints were done by the vendor using a light table and a digital camera. At some point I hope to get a negative printer and do these justice. Ultimately I hope to turn them over to an archive that can preserve them for the long run. But it just strikes me that these very easily could have been lost from the record forever.

it could be the Nha Trang airport terminal, just from the close mountain range in the back.

                Cheers

My AAM folks tell me she also could have worked at the "Traffic" desk. But no specific memories of this individual.

                        AAM Patch from Laos

Here's a custom AAM Patch from Laos - I've seen this same patch on a shirt with a direct-embroidered AAM wing - SWEET!

                          First Pattern AAM Wing

Here's what I believe to be a first issue/pattern AAM wing - made in USA from a CAT wing sent as sample. Too impossible to find or believe! All rights in photos belong to www.flyingtigerantiques.com - this wing must be seen to be believed!

I got to see these the day Ron bought them. The photos do not do these great wings justice.

I like that this patch. It has Long Tieng on the bottom. At one time this was THE most Top Secret place in the world. It was also nick-named "Spook Heaven". It was also NOFORN LIMDIS at this site. It was the home base for Air America. Across the field was were the infamous "Ravens". These guys were nothing more than Sheep-dipped Fighter and FAC pilots who wanted more than just flying around South Vietnam with very few exceptions. Their ID's were taken away and they were supposedly given different names and different Military ID's with their new names on them. No dog tags either.

On a side note: This was the base for the MEO Tribe in and around the area and the headquarters for Gen. Vang Pao. Does anyone here know who Van Pao's best friend in the US was?
