BINH DINH Province Vietnam, local surplus shops

Dear All,

I am in BINH DINH Province in Vietnam working with the Vietnamese Army doing EOD. I have located two contacts "shops" here that have a large collection of US Items who i am trying to build a good relationship with. They are now on the look out for certain items for me. I just wanted to show a few things from today. I have not seen the rest of whats "at home/around town" or the second contacts collection of stuff yet. The first contact is bringing in some Tiger stripe pants in the morning so i will see those tomorrow and post them.

Its not surprising given the location of the shop on the grounds of the old QHI NHON Airbase that there are a lot of those kinds of items from an airbase, all the mess equipment, AFV and work stuff- even a helicopter lader rolled up on the floor. The Helmet bag has "Us Airforce" and an Aircav badge, plus a name, same as the Pilots helmet, also named.

Thanks, too bad. I thought they were "off" compared to the set i saw in Saigon at Xmas. The price was suspiciously low too, which was not normal here as they all have ebay on their phones.

The only other only other things I looked at were two Compasses (65 and 55 dated)- nothing else there. I'll find a new store (of sorts) to show as soon as i can make it to a guys place my friend knows in Khe Sahn who has been picking up items for years for himself- I hope to find named mess tins or helmets, or something from the Hill Fights (Without being able to get up there probably). The best i think i can get out of this store in Qhi Nhon is a contact who could turn up something requested (asked for M1955 Vests, Tiger Stripe, Named Jungle Jackets) or a contact for the second guy. At least this shop was not full of the Saigon tourist items. Why does the Flak vest M69 have a Velcro patch? Qhi Nhon Airfield security or something?

Recently I had 2 Vietnamese Students at my place, buying VN Dated Stuff and after asking, they told me that they send it back home for surplus Shops of their families.
