Interesting VN (Field found) Item- Can you guess it?

These interesting items are found around here, anybody knows what it is?

    Best Regards,

    Pete

P.S I will eventually have more interesting photos to show, as the Hamburger Hill Humanitarian Mine Action Clearance will start in June, when it will be officially announced in the media. I've got some preliminary photos now from my friend yesterday and they're amazing!

      What Owen said.

They are painted camo when new and have soft rubber "branches" to blend in the surroundings.

        .

The Vietnamese Army call these "Tropical trees". They told me that during the Bombing of the Ho Chi Minh Trail they would move these on purpose to areas they wanted "cleared" such as Brush etc or areas which wouldnt pose a threat. I don't suppose it would have been good to be the person moving one!

Some older guys who were doing EOD back in the 80s told me the Vietnamese studied these and the batteries were still working after 13 years, at least what he said!

            .

Thanks Bob, I have never seen that they had the camo base when new, that is very cool! I will ask if there are any pics of them still being found in situation on the HCMT.
