This Shako isn't for an Luftschiffer. The Luftschiffer Battalions were part of the to Gardetruppen and this had the Gardeadler (eagle) on the emblem.

look at this one. This is for an officer but the one for NCO looks simillar but an simple version for of the Gardeadler.

How is the rear visor attached? It should be under the leather band that rings the bottom of the body.

        Hello.

I don't like it: no vent holes, two different prongs on the plate, "special" and too big eagle, strange shako model...

        Best regards

I don't understand what problems you see, I am attaching two examples of shako, one of which is a luftchiffer, the eagle seems to be the usual, there are more productions than the leather hull

I try it again. The Shako for Luftschiffer and Flieger does NOt have the eagle. The correct emblem for this is the Gardestern as displayed on this link.

It was my mistake because I wrote Gardeadler but I ment Gardestern.

              Kind regards

Isn't that only the case for the First and Second Battalions, ie the Garde Stern?

If I remember correctly (from Kraus' book) the standard pattern adler was used on the shako by the remaining Prussian Flieger and Luftschiffer Battalions.

                  Hello,

Here's some clarification as to who wore what:

                  Luftshiffer-Batallions:

                  1st & 2nd Luftschiffer-Batallion wore the silver Guard Star.

2nd Luftschiffer-Batallion / 3rd Kompany (Saxon) wore the silver star with the gold Saxon crest.

3rd, 4th, and 5th Luftshiffer Batallions wore the Silver Prussian Eagle front plate.

4th Luftschiffer Batallion / 4th Kompany Wurttemburg wore the silver front plate of Wurttemburg.

Kgl. Bayr. Luftschifer und Kraftfahrer-Batallion wore the silver Bavarian front plate.

                  Flieger Batallions:

                  1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Flieger-Batallions wore the silver Guard Star front plate.

1st Flieger-Batallion/3rd Kompany Saxon wore the silver star with the gold Saxon emblem.

Bavarian Flieger-Batallion wore the silver Bavarian front plate.

I hope this helps clarify things.

                  Best Regards,

                  Alan
