Prussian Pickelhaube P.R. 30

Just wanted to share this one, as it is my first ever helmet of this type. Came from a 50+ years old collection and looks untouched with original chinstrap.
There was also few gasmasks with it - but as You Guys know they are all sold

or maybe 30 Rekrutendepot Pionier Bataillon which should be a part of 30. Pionier Regiment anyway

To my knowledge, the Engineer (Pioniere) Battalions wore the same helmet as Infantry Troops, but the hardware was "white-copper".

I have an identical M15 Prussian J.R. 30 as yours pictured above, with same hard to decipher markings. If you like, I don't mind posting pictures of it.

I think this is a standard M15 pickelhaube for an infantry regiment.
Pionier units were never larger than battalion size; no regiments.

Bob, its clearly stamped P.R.30 - also follow the link I attached - it shows even a plate for Pionier Regiment 30 dedicated to all killed during the war.

Of course there were pioneer regiments. Not only this one, but the Garde Res.Pion.Rgt., the 35th and 36th Pionier (Gas) Regiments.

Appreciate the additional pictures Mike, thank you. It is clearly stamped P.R. 30, however; your chart in post #5 clearly reads, "Rekrutendepot Pionier Bataillon". I have seen these stamped P.B. 30, and if I can find the pictures I will post them. Either way, an excellent helmet.

Chip, I would like to see your reference in regards to the existence of Pioneer Regiment 30, maybe I will learn something new:

Germany - First World War

Imperial German Army pioneers (Pioniere) were regarded as a separate combat arm trained in construction and the demolition of fortifications, but they were often used as specialist infantry, serving the role of combat engineers.[24]

One battalion was assigned to each Corps.
• The Guard Pioneer Battalion 1. (6 companies, each with 20 large and 18 small flame-throwers)
• The Guard Pioneer Battalion 2.
• The Guard Pioneer Battalion 3.
• The Guard Reserve Pioneer Battalion – created from reservists who had been civilian firemen, the battalion was issued with experimental flame-throwers
• 1st Bavarian Pioneer Battalion, First Bavarian Division (12 destruction squads)
• 2nd Bavarian Pioneer Battalion

Prussian Army pioneer battalions:
• 1 Prussian Pioneer Battalion of the Guards – 3 Field companies, one Reserve company
• 12 Prussian Pioneer Battalions of the Line (18 officers, 495 men and 6 other people)
o 2nd Pioneer Battalion at Stettin
o 4th Pioneer Battalion at Magdeburg
• Saxon Pioneer Battalion
