    Pickelhaube Help

I have no experience with these since I collect WWII, but have a chance to purchase this one. Does it look original and correct ?

    Thanks
    Pat

Chinstrap is repro, and the reich cockade looks repainted to me. Both of which are extremely common with these as they are 100+ years old and some people collect them with these repro elements anyway.

If you just want a prussian example to complement your WW2 collection then go for it. Or save up ~$400 or $500 and get a really nice example.

          Hallo Pat

          I agree with Forssmann.

A common pre-war bavarian enlisted with some recent embellishment.

          What is the price?

          Best regards

This M95 Bavarian Pickelhaube is not as common as finding a Prussian example. If the price is right, I say go for it.

Asking price is $550. So is a nicer condition Prussian the same price range ?

              Thanks

A nicer condition Prussian with all original kokardes and an original chinstrap would be more than $550. And depending upon if it has nice unit markings or not can make a difference as well.

A very nice condition model 1895 enlisted pattern Prussian with all original parts would fetch $700 or maybe even more. A dealer would ask more than $700 for a nice original one, that's for certain at a military show.

Chuck is correct: for $550 that is not a bad price for a less commonly seen Bavarian enlisted pattern 1895 helmet, even if it has repro chinstrap and repro kokardes on it.

                  Best Regards,

                  Alan
