    Pickelhaube is it repro ??

I got caught up in the heat of an auction and purchased this Pickelhaube. I have wanted one of these for at least 20 years I remember when I was a kid back in the 60's my grandfather had one in the basement and we played with it like a toy not a clue what ever happened to it . So please I would like all the info I can get on this guy so I can start researching That is unless I made a hugh mistake and blew 500$ on a repro. Thanks for any help I appreciate it....

I can make out on the label the word Freiwillige I think that's German for Volunteer

You have done very well, a scarce Garde haube to a one year volunteer.

Just missing the Garde star, see pics.

Here is mine to a similar unit, but an officer.

    Well done

I would like to see a picture of both sides, and the entire liner system.

No stars are for Officers only, your Haube is correct for an EM.

          Pre WW1 private purchase.

Appreciate the additional pictures. To answer your biggest concern, is it a repo, the answer is no. IMO, you did okay at $500.00.

I can't remember all the minute changes on the model year, so to me it could be a M1871/79, etc. You can get detailed information at www.kaisersbunker.com. I believe the Silver hardware would be for Eisenbahn (Railway) Troops? Everything looks correct too me, with exception to the method of securing the chinscales to the sides.

IMO, a good first pick... congrats.
