    Colonial Visor...Ottoman Empire? Palestine?

Just purchased this. Not in the habit of buying stuff I know nothing about, but one thing I'm certain is that it's Imperial German. I wrote Chris from http://www.germancolonialuniforms.co.uk and he was kind enough to offer his opinion. He says that since it has both cockades that it's unlikely colonial but maybe Ottoman Empire theater.

Well, I'd appreciate any clues to what regiment or theater of war this may have been a part of.

It's a German Officers cap for technical troops i.e. artillery, engineers, transportation, air force and the black kokarde makes it Prussian.

The lightweight fabric cover (linen?) was used possibly for warmer climates but I would guess they were worn on all fronts.

I have one very similar to yours and also this "100 gramm" cap which, as the name implies, is very light.

There is a colonial visor cap which looks very much like this, but with only one cockarde, and that is the tropical service cap for the Waffenmeister of the Schutztruppe. I have a period color illustration of this cap which (although I've paid my $35 dues for several years) I am unable to post. I can send it to a member as a JPEG if you will give me an e-mail address and they could post it on this thread.

Thanks Ben and SkaraBrae..I sent a PM for the pic. Ben, thank u for the links : )...Mystery solved

Lol, not sure if I should be pissed or not...bought it as "WW1 Colonial Hat" from Griffen which I might add, is a real nice guy and sponsor, but I was hoping it was colonial related since I'm pretty relegated to collecting Imperial Navy and Colonial, so this really isn't in my wheelhouse

Rob was kind enough to show what a real colonial would look like. Photos courtesy of Rob
