You might want to post the helmets here
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...splay.php?f=66
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Nice german bavarian spike helmet troup and officer.

Not immediately enamoured by these. The officer helmet has an odd Wappen (look f.e. at the weird shape of the lion on the right - perspective viewer, the reserve cross should be in contrast to the Wappen so in the case golden as the Wappen is silver, the coat of arms behind the reserve cross looks fairly funky as well). Better pics would help though to make a better determination.

Helmet on the left is a Bavarian Policeman helmet missing the chinscales. It is a Civil Service Helmet, and Not a Military Helmet (although it looks like a military helmet to most non-spike helmet collectors). I can see the lion head side mounts from your photo. Finding a set of chinscales that go on these lion side mounts will take you a very long time to find. The missing chinscales on this helmet hurt the value signifcantly. It is a nice looking helmet that appears to be in good condition.

The helmet on the right has a cross clipped off the top of the crown of the lion on the right side of the front plate. That hurts the value of the helmet. Tom is correct in pointing out that the reservist cross on the front plate should be a contrasting color, specifically in gilt brass.

The chinscales look to be a bit large for the helmet on the right as well.

It would be good to see full interior photos of each helmet to see if the liners are intact.

              Best Regards,

              Alan
