Thought I would share my pre-1901 Hannoversches Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 10 tunic. I grabbed it because of the earlier features and the absence of the "Gibraltar" cufftitle. One of the only non-Garde tunics I have.

Bob, here is a shot of the boards.
If you don't own the set already, I heartily recommend another great Verlag Militaria publication, " The German Infantry from 1871 to 1914", in two large volumes.
Expensive, but well worth it.

Hi Willi,
Although I like your tunic, I am a little confused by the one year volunteer cord on the shoulder straps. They seem to be white blue (Bavaria) and not white black (Prussia). I am unaware of JB 10 having had white and blue one year volunteer cords.
After taking a closer looks at that cord it is very different from what I am used to seeing. IMO that cord could be very well a later (non-period) addition to the strap with the purpose of upgrading a regular EM to a one year volunteer tunic.
Please see pic of some of my 1yv straps for the difference. See how tight these cords are and with two coloured threads alternating with two white? The cords on your tunic seems home, not machine made: the threads are uneven which happens if you pull on your thread with unequal force and the blue is just one thread instead of two, the whole cord is uneven.

Based on Tom's observation of the cords on the straps, and the fact that I picked up another Garde tunic (Jäger NCO), I was going to sell this tunic. So, as I pulled it off the half mannequin, I noticed it had a name tag in the armpit (correct company). And I looked closely at the straps. The cord was very poorly applied, and the straps were original to the tunic. The cords came off rather easily, and without damaging the straps.
So now, I decided to keep it. Tough to find an earlier tunic (pre-1901), tough to find a Jäger tunic, and the price was right when I got it.Willi
