I think that both your holster and the Walther holster are post war government holsters either DDR or Bundesrepulik. They have very similar closure structure and the buttons are alike.

Your holster was probably intended for a revolver as it lacks a magazine pouch and it has a rather long and thin barrel section.

I don't know of any long barrelled revolvers still in use Post WWII ???

I believe that some Post War German police were armed with the .38 Smith & Wesson Victory Model. Perhaps other police were armed with Russian or British revolvers.
