Unit marked pistol

Looked at this today at a show ....I presume regimental markings can anyone shed some light on which?....I presume the first part is the regimental number R=reserve???

It’s a FL SELBSTLADER..... number on it’s 37397 so don’t yet know what year it was ...it was at a show yesterday

1916 would be a fair guess, without better information. These pistols were most all wartime made and this number is about halfway through the total production so mid-war would be about right.

455th was formed in 1917. I believe regimental stamps were ceased in 1919.

Roy many thanks I was going to buy the pistol ( it’s deactivated the only way we can own them in the U.K.) but it has a couple of issues ...the magazine is not the correct one for that pistol and it has a piece missing from the trigger ....and I guess getting parts would be nearly impossible.......

Is it a new/recent de-act? Older ones I think can be reactivated pretty easily. Not sure what can be done if anything on a newer one....

Even the older spec ones (uk ) would have been nearly impossible to do as the rifling is removed from the barrel to nearly the end of the barrel and barrel slotted, the frame is also weakened so although dry fires under pressure would go bang, they also cut the firing pin assembly at 45 degrees , they also remove the ramp to the barrel from the magazine so not easy at all in reality

oh my. my father had a deact here in the usa bought in the 70s i think, it wasnt a very hard repair. that all sounds very much different. and worse. is it different in uk? (im buzzing the firearms forum after a capital day at the range with my brothers AR15... pardon the questions) anytime i go shooting i find i then need another weapon. lol.
