Prussian Infantry Officer Picklehaub - My First!!

I just bought this last night. It is my first picklehaub. It is a Prussian Infantry and has a gold plate, scales and spike. Any opinions are welcome.

Wow! Not too shabby for your first Haube. Nothing wrong with that at all. I am going to guess the flash of your camera made the crazing on the shell appear much worse than it is. Crazing like that, especially if it has some depth, can be cleaned-out with a damp tooth-brush and then wiped off. All that dirt and grime removed makes the helmet appear much less aged. Stars have greyed to zinc but who cares. The rest of the fittings are very very nice. Absolutely superb liner, visor undersides, and interior skull. Removable spike too I see.

Congratulations for a highly successful first Haube. You and Greg did very well for your first leap into the world of Pickelhauben.

Please do not display this sitting on the front visors, I have a section discussing this at this link if you are interested. >> http://www.kaisersbunker.com/preservation/

That's a lovely haube. I'd like to get an officer's lid next. The preservation section on Tony's site is well worth a read, some top tips. Well done Paul!

Thanks for the comments Guys. I really do like it. I read the preservation section on Tony's website. I really hesitate to do any dismantling and cleaning. By the way I could not resist the temptation to try it on and I guess these Germans were really small - it did not fit.
