Unknown pouch 1917 dated ?

Hi all,

just found this little pouch and wondered what it was used for ? It is a bit bigger then one section of a common 3 piece ammo pouch but much thinner.

Any ideas what it is ?

I know they did gas goggles in a pouch like this, but usually see something more of an Ersatz nature, dated 1915. Possibly for goggles, still, for Motorradfahrer or other drivers.
