I've had this for at least 30 years but never figured out what it is. I just opened a box from storage and found it again so I'm curious if anyone can identify it. Although it has a French look, there is no provision for a plume as is typical on French helmets so I presume it is Belgian, South American, Danish or something.

Scrolling through Pinterest I found an identical helmet but the description "Helmet for a Cuirassier 1850-1900" is vague and may just be a guess. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/414331234438551584/
The design of the embossing on the sides of the comb is unique as is the white plumage. This helmet, identified as NIII guard cuirassier, also has a similar comb design, chain and cockade. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/550354016939474507/
