Thoughts on this Imperial Visor

I was wondering what you guys opinion was on this visor listed at auction. It lists it as a German 1917 Officers Cap and that it is either a late war production or a theater made piece. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum with your first posting. The hat looks to be original war-time to me and the poor quality red band looks like what might be expected later in the war. More detailed images would be helpful but I like it as an original hat. Others will certainly chime in.

Thanks for welcome and the the input pauke. I'm hoping you're right. I've been searching for other late war examples to try and compare it to as well.

I get a good vibe from it but the style is not one I am well versed about. The cockades are standard m1916 Bavarian and Reichs for other ranks, and not the officer variety.

Not a one looker for me. Looks quite different from what I would expect and not what I would buy but let us see what others say.

It appears to be a private purchase cap. It's missing it's chinstrap. I think it's a legitimate WWI piece.
