        Hello Andrew,

Yes, a very nice looking Wurttemburg Reserve Infantry Officer helmet.

Looks like it is a fiber body example, which is easier to maintain than the leather body examples.

The only things I see for problems are as follows: Someone has re-soldered the spike back onto the cloverleaf spike base, and did a bit of a messy job in doing so. The officer pearl ring is also missing from the bottom of the neck of the spike as well. And last of all, the antlers got broken off from the stag's head at some point of time in the past. The antlers are fragile, and it's not uncommon to see them broken off from the front plate as happened on this helmet. Other than these points, it's a great looking helmet.

        Thanks for posting it!

        Best Regards,

        Alan

Nothing to add - Alan has said it all - with its defects still a beautiful helmet.

Thanks gents! Hadn't noticed the antlers and didn't know about the ring! I saw the repair, appears period done. I'm not an Imperial collector, though it is some beautiful material. Having a hard time pinning down a value. The similar pieces I see on a couple of Imperial German sites seem a tad... Inflated.

The main issue is that crappy repair job on the spike. If this helmet did not have that is would be worth quite a bit more as a spike ring is a fairly easy add on. The missing antlers is of course a pitty but could quite easily be from period use - so IMO not such a big thing. In its current condition I would value it at 400-500 euro. If you could improve upon the repair job so as it would no longer show IMO 700 euro. Add a pearl ring to it might end up as a 800-900 euro helmet.

Here's a look at my example. I picked it up at an auction in approximately 2010.
