    Help identifying Pickelhaube

    Dad was an avid collector of both WWI and WWII militaria and passed away a couple of years back. We're helping Mom to start clearing out some boxes of stuff and every now and then we run across something that makes us say "Hmm...." since he never really discussed his collection with any of us we know next to nothing about some of this stuff.

    This weekend we found a box with a couple of spiked hats which I'm assuming are Prussian Pickelhaube. Dad unabashedly collected reproduction stuff as well as a lot of genuine stuff so we never know which is what. These look genuinely old, so I'm curious if anyone has more information and background that could be helpful in assessing their value to a museum or collector.

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Looks like a nice Prussian private purchase helmet with cover. You can find an excellent reference site here www.kaisersbunker.com.

        Thank you gentlemen I will use that information to do some further research. Is there anything in particular I should look for to determine background, or whether it is a noteworthy (or ho-hum) piece?

        I also have this one, which was in the same box but appears to have been dented by something being packed carelessly next to it in the box;

          Hello!
          The other one is from a bavarian Reserve-officer of an infantry-regiment of the line (NOT from the Leibregiment! They had white plates)
