Hi all,
Here is my Prussian Telegraphen buckle. The buckle box looks very much like the Navy/Schutztruppen one shown earlier. Still difficult to say whether that one's original. Clever fakers used to take common roundels off original buckles and replace them with faked rare ones. When done well, it's pretty impossible to detect a doctored buckle visually. The faked roundels were mostly made of copper and silver-coated by the galvanoplastic method (as copper has a very high conductivity). If one scratches the roundel's surface and red appears, this would be an alarm signal. Original roundels may be solid Neusilber or silver-coated brass, but never copper. I can imagine Navy/Schutztruppen, Württemberg and Saxon Telegraphen buckles, but certainly no Saxon 107/108 ones. These regiments did not have their own Telegraphens sections.
Regards,
Karl
