    Leib-Grenadier Helmets

    Here is a study of the three leib-grenadier regiments of the german army;
    Leib-Grenadier-Regt. Koning Friedrich Wilhelm III (1. Brandenburgisches) Nr. 8
    Konigl. Sach. 1. Leib-Grenadier-Regt. Nr. 100, and
    1. Badisches Leib-Grenadier-Regt. Nr. 109.

      LGR 8 side bosses. Only GR 7 (with cypher of Wilhelm I) and LGR 8 (with cypher of Friedrich Wilhelm III) had cyphers vs. plain rosettes.

            Stunning! The Baden 109 is perhaps my favorite of all Pickelhauben...

            Cheers,

            Arran.

              Thanks for your comments and I agree with you; the 109th is a favorite for me too! This one is actually the second I have owned and I was very fortunate to get another after I sold the first one in the late 1990s. I purchased the first one, along with a saxon duchy officer and a guard artillery officer as part of a collection being sold by the "infamous" J.A. Bowman in around 1992. Most of these helmets were pictured in his books and most had problems. The 109th had quite a bit of enamel damage on the arms and someone had tried to "repair" them. Still all said, I think I ultimately paid $1700 for all three helmets...

              Regards

              Dave

                  WONDERFUL!!!!

                  I have an officer's tunic for Leibgrenadier Rgt 8 and an NCO tunic for Leibgrenadier Rgt 100.

                  Fortunately, I have the Spike and the belt/buckle for the LGR100. I can't say the same for the LGR8 officer.

                  I absolutely love the Baden 109...
