    i got this nice Hessen Schirmmütze for a "Sanitäter".

    Unfortunately the strap is missing.

            Freiwilliger Krankenpfleger, not necessarily a "Sanitäter". Most were nursing personnel, who were involved in the movement of the wounded and attended to their needs on the trips back to Germany.
