Could someone tell me a little more about this uniform and if it's okay or not. When were they used? Did they use them in WW1? Anything more would be nice. I'm looking for a german uniform around WW1 to display with my pickelhaube that isn't going to be too expensive like an original soldiers German WW1 uniform.

These are generally considered pre-war uniforms. The cavalry did not change in 1909 to pike-gray like the other service branches and continued to wear these "colored" uniforms until early 1915 when they were then issued pike-gray.
I believe these also continued to be worn as dress uniforms through the war.

As Brian already said, from the picures it looks OK but a few more would be nice.
Its hard to tell but lets say that the red facings and gold buttons are DR 14.
They used this type of uniform up to 1918 as going out or parade uniform. In 1914 it was still worn in the field as a combat uniform.

I agree. These uniforms were even used in combat in the early stages of the war, when a huge part of the KuK cavalry was massacred.
See the picture, the soldiers are hussars and not dragoons, but it gives an idea...
The uniform itself looks OK to me, Rittmeister (captain) rank, the only thing I don't like is the discoloration of the cloth, that has been exposed to a direct light for years. See the shadow of the decoration in the place where it was pinned.
If you buy it, show it with an austrian dragoon helmet or a red garrison cap.
It's nonsense to place a german Pickelhaube on it!Attached Files

I have no problems with the lining, it's a privately purchased officer tunic so some small variations on the cut were always possible. The price is reasonable and reflects the conditions and the fact that these uniforms are not much sought after, as most KuK collectors look for Feldgrau stuff.

Well I would like a hands on on this one. Some things look ok some I am not to crazy about. The lining looks syntetic on the photos and lacks some things I would expect to see (like the iner "belt" for fastening so the buttons are not under tension). The cuff material looks very rough, not something one would expect for an officers quality tunic (but there is much variation and it could also be the photo). Also, I can see some stich marks of the tailor's (?) etiquete on the back and that is very unusual (at least on a-h tunics). If everything is ok 260 is a great price. All in all it could be an original jacket with new lining (from theater maybe).Last edited by flik; 09-22-2016, 12:39 PM.

That's true, the lining could have been replaced, but from the pics it's hard to say.
However,I don't think it's synthetic . The absence of the label is not a problem, very often it was taken away. The lower part of the lining is red as it should be. I don't think that who replaced the lining (if it was replaced) was so accurate.
In case, the upper part only could hace been replaced.
In some case, it happens that the original lining in bad shape can still be found under the new lining. I found this out on a similar tunic
