Prussian spiked helmet/pickelhaube opinions

Hi Guys

I was offered this spiked helmet and would really appreciate some opinions on it as it falls outside my collecting area. From what I saw on the forum it looks like a good M15 but missing a few parts. The interior is also not in very good condition and I am waiting on a picture from the front.

Is it a good one and if so what would be a fair price for it? From what I read finding the correct chinstrap can be a minefield and expensive.

It's been taken apart at some point, as the black inside reinforcing ring has been moved to the outside (now underneath the spike base). The spike has some damage.

It was not stored well, as heat has gotten to the surface of the finish of the body and caused that bubbling effect. Heat also dried out the lining. As you mention, you would also have parts to replace (chinstrap, cockades, spike base brad).

Unless you could get it cheaply, I suggest you pass on it. These are not uncommon and you can find examples in much better condition, if you want to own a nice one.
