Ah, the good old days...the 70's is when I started collecting. Lots of snail mail and phone conversations. Oh, and lets not forget those mail order catalogs from militaria dealers. Especially the ones with NO photos. It was always a adventure opening up the box when it arrived to see if what you paid for was actually what you thought it was.

Once I remember finding three WW2 steel helmets, one French and two German, for sale in a downtown department store.

Crazy times.
