    Vereinfachte Feldrock/Waffenrock - original?

What would your opinion on this piece be? The nap on the wool is still in great shape and the liner is only slightly soiled, but the buttoned front should be straight.

There's a lot going on here...

I think it was a transitional.. Note the lack of decorative cuffs. I'm not sure what you mean by the buttons not lining up.. I think it's because it is laying down. The collar has been butchered.. that's a real shame. Liner is that of an EM..
Honestly that collar is a huge detriment. I know these things are rare and pretty desirable right now, but its a hard pill to swallow.
I know these are superficial opinions so we'll wait for those more versed with the enlisted tunics. I just wanted to get the discussion ball rolling for ya!

This tunic appears to have been tuned after the war : removal of the "closed" collar toward a civil "open" collar style. The piping war removed as well. You can althougt notice the flush patch added onto the inner turned panel ( apparentl a fine ribbed trikot quality.
The civil collar was then removed and the piping was reapplied ( badly by the way).
As the fabric looks really fresh and mint, it is quite easy to finish the revamping by adding a new military collar as per regulations.

As it is , the tunis has low value. But on ebay, as always, some foolish people will spend huge amount of money on it... Never mind...

Is the date 15 or 16? The more I look at it the less I can guess on the date stamp!

I would have to assume it is 15 in that this style tunic was dropped from official contract manufacture during the Summer of 1915.

I agree with what was written about the partial reconversion from a modified to open lapel tunic and re-applied piping. I personally see this as beyond effective restoration unless a donor tunic could be found with the correct collar. Even then I am not sure if all of the material is still there around the cutout for the collar and if the plackets or flys have not been re-cut for the open lapel front.....

For me this would have some value as restoration material or to display under a set of trench armor where the collar is hidden anyway.
