    I hope I got a good buy??

I got this on ebay last week and kind of bid on it on the spur of the moment. It is being held in Germany for me and I should have it next month. It was described as "Preußen Artillerie Krätzchen, Hersteller aus Hannover(Uniform Mützenfabrik H. Reinicke), Kammerstempel der 5. Batterie" and is marked 5LB. I am not sure about the cockades. Did I get stuck or did I get a good buy?<!-- End Description -->

      Paul,
The cap looks fine. The national cockade is in the wrong position, however. It looks like there was an upper cockade at one time. If so, I would move the national cockade to the upper location and then find a Prussian splint brad cockade for the bottom.

      Regards,
      Chip

Thanks Chip. That was my thought when I first saw it. That the national cockade need to be moved to the top and a Prussian cockade added. So I did get a good buy for under $80.00!!!

          Paul,
An excellent buy for that price. The condition is very good. Most of the caps I see on the German ebay are in poor condition. You got lucky.

          Regards,
          Chip

I finally got the hat from Germany and it is better then I expected. I need to move the Reich cockade to the top and get a split brad Prussian form the top. Any suggests where I can get a good one?

Just dug through my can of Kokarden, all I have are sew-on pattern for Preußen Mannschaften. Sorry. But these are very, very common on ebay. $10 to $15 max. I have a similar cap, I assure you I paid a lot more than $80 for it. Great buy for you!

Tony, Thanks. All I need now is the tunic to go with it. It should not be to hard for just a plain old purssian artillery EM.

Hmm..Preußen might be better. FAR Waffenrock are common, but you can also look for "uncommon".
