    Fliegertruppe/Technical Schirmmuetze

It's been a long wait but I finally found one of these.
Condition isn't perfect but I got a good deal on it.

Interesting that it was upgraded by adding an elasticated velvet band.

As the heading of this thread suggests, this cap was also worn by pioneer, artillery, Telegraph, Eisenbahn, Starkstrom, FLAK Scheinwerfer, Kraftfahr and Luftschiff officers.

        It's a nice looking example.

          Absolutely and thank you Chip.

What's your take on the upgrading of caps with velvet bands during the Imperial period? I find it very interesting because it was still in practise in regards to the SS in the 30's and 40's.

              Ben,

What's under the velvet band? You didn't show that or how it was removable. Perhaps that was a cheap way of not having to buy a field cap and a dress cap. That is, you could just add or subtract the velvet band as needed.

I like it. I wish it were mine.
