    M16 camo, opinions please

    Hi Guys

I have the chance to buy what I think is an M16 camo with a M17 liner, not my field so your opinions greatly appreciated.

        Hello,

The marking in the helmet is "Bell L" and a two digit size number. There is a bell shaped logo and an "L". This manufacturer is easy to spot because the vent lugs are somewhat rounded off, as opposed to other manufacturers, whose are squared off.

It doesn't appear that the liner has been switched out. It looks like a straight M17 helmet to me.

          Thanks Chip
Yes I can see the bell shape, so it's a bell, capital L with a 6 after that it is to faint.

Anybody any thoughts on the paintwork?

          Regards
          Steve

              Thanks Rob,

I wondered about that, definitely a shiny finish.

                Steve,

It's an original WWI German M17 Bell-L 64... 64 being the size as Chip mentioned. There may also be a series of letters and numbers stamped inside center dome area.

The M17 liner system appears to be original to this helmet. The drawstring is a replacement.

It's hard to tell if the camo paint is original because its so shiny, and does have the appearance of being polished or shellacked. That being said, "I think its good". Can you post a few more close up pictures of the paint?

                Chuck

Nice looking helmet. Wish we could have seen all three pads. If these aren't your pics and you're looking to buy, make sure to see the entire liner before you buy. The two shown look good! I agree the drawstring seems potentially replaced, but that's no big. And it really does have a shine to it.. Perhaps some pics in natural light without a flash would help. Otherwise, seems like a good lid. Love those Bells.
