Hi all!
I am excited to have found these two WW1 German helmets, which came out of a Canadian veterans family collection with a bunch of other assorted medals, a WW1 German Iron cross and a WW2 dress bayonet.
The Steel helmet (M16?) has the original liner, chinstrap and is maker marked "BF64" on the interior by the chinstrap holder. The paint appears original and is dark green in color.
The pickelhauben has an interesting plate on the front (Baden?) and is in surprisingly good condition with nice leather and no damage or shrinking (there is a loose metal circular plate however, otherwise it is tight). The markings on the interior of the rim appears to be "54 1/2", "B.A. XIV" and "G.R.10 1916". The roundells on the size of the helmet appear to be painted yellow and white, does this signify a different division or military rank?
I was wondering if anyone could help me further identify these helmets, the markings and maybe give me an estimation of value- any help is greatly appreciated!
Cheers and thanks!
