I'm no expert and I am sure others will give further details, but it appears to me that there is more than one red flag here.

i agree. i don't like the leather, looks freshly tanned and spotty. cover is a repro as well.

Does your "friend" have the capacity/ability to recover his money from the vendor?

If so, my advice would be to do so immediately, unless, of course, the item(s) was acquired at a 'repro price'.

Certainly, I also had thought the set was bad. Luckily he knew the helmet was "touched" and the cover was a repro, and he paid 300 eur. which is a bit expensive imo. He feels happy with it, so end of the story. Thanks you all for your inputs, I appreciate it.
