quite a few of them have that distant look in their eyes, like they don't want to go home anymore. reminds me of "All Quiet On The Western Front".

I have read somewhere that some regiments required it's members to have moustaches and if they couldn't grow one they were painted on with some skin compatable paint. Just how true that was and what era it was from
