WW1 Visor hat with strange cap band, what is it ?

just got this from a family who cleaned out there house. At first I wanted to remove the grey cap band but it looks to be done on purpose. Maybe some kind of Manöver band ? Or maybe for camo reasons ? What do you think ? Also what kind of visor is this ? Iam more a ww2 collector.
