Picked up from a WAF member recently. E.T.64. The outside shell and inner rim have a light coat of varnish or ? Every now and then you'll find a WWI German or U.S. helmet that has been painted with a clear substance by the Veteran. M17 camouflage helmets are getting tough to find nowadays.

to be frank, i don't see the clear-coat you mentioned. maybe it's visible in hand but from your pics i just see the camo in its natural state.
