    1. Garde Dragoner RGT. tunic

Finally after many years of searching I found a waffenrock to my favorite regiment. This waffenrock is for a Regimental Sergeant Major ( Etatsmassige Wachmeister) to 1. Garde Dragoner Regiment "Konigin Viktoria von Grossbritannien und Irland". The indicator for the rank are the two large collar buttons, and gold guard lace on the collar and cuff and the strip of lace above both cuffs.

The sleeve shows the chevrons for 6th class lance proficiency (Fechterabzeichen), one sliver lace and two woolen chevrons. The tunic also hosts a marksmanship cord first class (Schutzenabzeichen). The piece also came with the 1GDR cap and cartridge pouch with belt. The tunic has a loops for a EKI and a 2-3 place medal bar.

Great uniform set Mike! If I am not mistaken, I think that set was at the SOS last year.

              Squadron Sergeant Major

              Mike,

Lovely tunic but not a Regimental Sergeant Major. No such equivalent rank existed in the Prussian Army. The "Etatmäßiger" was the company/squadron/battery Sergeant Major. There were five of them on the establishment of a five squadron Prussian cavalry regiment.

              Regards
              Glenn

Glenn, thanks for the info. I was using one of the old reference books for the identification. Much appreciated. Mike
