      Hello,

      It looks like WWII feuerwehr.

        Is the band black velvet?

The band is black, not sure of the material; it belongs to a friend of mine. Someone suggested this is a Reichsbahn visor.

If the crown and band are black, yes, that would seem to be right. However, If the band is black and the crown a dark blue, then maybe it could be a prewar technical/artillery troops cap. We need an expert like Tony to chime in here on this.

The top is dark blue, the band is black. Thoughts?

Is there any evidence of another cockade above the one mounted?
The existing cockade is the Reichskokade, which on Imperial caps would be mounted above, with the state cockade, Prussia, Bavaria, etc., mounted where this cockade is.
If the band is velvet, it could be a pre-1914 officer's cap for artillery, pioniers, etc., but given the cockade's location, I'm thinking Weimar or TR era.

No evidence of another cockade mounted above. The band does appear to be velvet.
