    Fantasy Piece - Krupp Mark

Is this legit or a complete fantasy (see link below)? It's a nice Krupp mark but those are pretty easily reproduced and there are certainly some nicely aged examples of fake WWI armor out there as previous threads have demonstrated.

I'm no expert.....but from the photos it looks like all the edges are a little uneven. Doesn't seem like the way Krupp would produce something.

I dont like it... I cant suss out how it would fit a human head? Oxidizing looks strange too... like the undercarriage of 60 year old cars that saw a lot of salted roads.

The seller also gives no dimensions or any description for that matter, and no photographic proof these actually existed.

Any other opinions? Im just taking a stab in the dark... I dont typically collect these things.

He recently sold this for a bit of coin

Interesting...the rust on the armor set is nearly identical to the mysterious face shield he presently has listed. There are copies of the armor readily available on Ebay and elsewhere but I'd be willing to bet the steel is a lighter gauge. As for the comment about the face shield being roughly cut, I noticed that as well. It looks like someone took a cutting torch to a piece of large diameter steel pipe and then barely cleaned it up. I'm not ruling out the legitimacy of the face shield and some of you on this forum have been collecting and researching Imperial German stuff a helluva' lot longer than I have but it sure doesn't look Kosher to me. There have been other supposedly Krupp-marked mysterious pieces of armor on Ebay in recent years all with generally the same kind of rust. It's amazing what can be done with a little acid, some dirt, and some time and patience!

Just to clarify...I'm not willing to condemn the seller. He may simply not know and perhaps he is being duped?
