      I would call the style "stoned hippie" circa 1968.

        It was painted older than that. My uncle who was 96 and died about 20 years ago worked for Michelin/Goodyear and went to France shortly after the War ended and told me that they were selling helmet shells painted with all kinds of floral and patriotic designs to tourists. I think this is an old version of a battlefield pick up shell sold like that as a curio item.
